The University of Teramo (UNITE) is a public University located in a rural Italian region, Abruzzo, enrolling around 6000 students. Their activities are focused on education & training, research and societal engagement developed in 5 Departments in two main areas: Biosciences and Humanities.
Study programs and research activities in the field of Political sciences, law, agronomy and food science have been active within the University of Teramo for more than 30 years. The issue of the governance of common lands has been addressed within these programs according to a interdisciplinary approach that involves history, geography, rural sociology, agricultural law and other disciplines. A second level specialization Master in Governance of local development in parks and natural areas was issued for XII editions.
The project is aimed at enhancing our understanding of theoretical and empirical approaches focused on two key areas: the exploration of socially and economically sustainable models for governing common lands, and the development of strategies aiming at integrating young rural women into decision-making processes related to these areas. The insights gained from the project will pave the way for the elaboration and proposal of innovative educational programs, including first and second-level master’s programs and professional courses, designed to academically empower a new generation of rural women as proficient experts in common land management. Some of the results will be also projects’ results will also be at the base of new research projects that could be published on international scientific journals and disseminate within international conferences.
