First meeting of the Wondercommonlands project . partnership_Seminar on Commons, Gender and Governance

Next November 22nd and 23rd, in the framework of the Wonder Commonlands project, a seminar on Commonlands, Gender and Governance will take place in Monte Veciñal de Couso, Gondomar (Pontevedra, Spain).

The seminar will be a meeting place for the project consortium, and aims to be a space that allows the partners to reflect on the situation in each participating country on the governance of commonlands with a gender perspective, knowing the context of these figures in each territory, the challenges they face and the needs for improvement.

It will begin on November 23rd with a public presentation, followed by a round table in which the participating organisations will briefly explain the situation in their territories and the needs for improving the governance of commons through the equal participation of women, as well as the objectives of each participant to be achieved through the development of this project.

The seminar, which will coexist with the Annual Meeting of Somos Comuneras – a network of women commoners in Spain – will continue on November 24th with the first results of a research carried out in Spain on the governance of commonlands and gender, as well as the celebration of several workshops that will help the consortium entities to reflect on their role in this issue, the potential in their territories and the design of the next steps as a group.

In addition, there will be a guided tour that will allow to know the most important places and activities developed in a communal way in Couso as well as other experiences in the territories of Spain. There will be a shared meal in the land and the dinners will also be spaces of coexistence and exchange of knowledge and flavours of each country.

The Comunidade de Montes de Couso is recognised as one of the entities with best practices in the management of communal territories, and this is recognised by the UN by declaring them ICCAs. For more info you can visit their website: https://montesdecouso.gal/
